THE 9th SUPPLICATION

THE MESSENGER’S SUPPLICATION FOR UMAR BIN AL-KHATAB

The Supplication: “O Lord! Render strength to Islam with the one with whom You are more pleased; either Umar Ibn Al-khatab or Abi Jahl Ibn Hisham”

Proof of acceptance: It is accepted and Allah strengthened Islam with Umar Ibn Al-khatab (may Allah be pleased with him); the one, with Whom Allah is more pleased, and Allah’s Messenger surnamed him, the sagacious,

Ibn Ishaq, in the Seerah (Narration of the history of Islam) quoted from what Abdullah Ibn Masoud (may Allah be pleased With him) said: “Umar’s embracing Of Was an open (commencement to strength), and his migration (to Al-Madinah) was a victory, and his principality was a mercy. We were indeed kept from praying at ‘bah (the place thereto all Muslims turn their faces Lo perform the prayers) till the time Umar has embraced Islam; as he fought Quraish (one of the greatest tribes in the Arabia in the Pre-Islamic period of Ignorance, The Prophet Muhammad belonged this tribe, which had great spiritually and financially both before and after Islam came) till Umar accompanied us in praying at Al-Kaa’bah.

Most of the Islamic conquests had indeed been accomplished during the principality of Umar Ibn Al-Khatab (may Allah be pleased With him); as Persia, Palestine, Syria and Egypt had been conquered and occupied. Hence, the Arab Empire had increased in that area which had been amputated from the Persian, the Eastern Roman and Western (Peasant) Empires.
