THE 5th SUPPLICATION
THE PROPHET’S SUPPLICATION ON THE DAY OF THE BATTLE OF BADR
The supplication: “O Allah! I entreat You to fulfill me Your promise! O Allah! Grant me Your Promise! O Allah! If Your Will is to let this group of Muslims be perished, none should worship You on earth after today.” [reported by Muslim] by: Muhammad, Allah’s Prophet.
Proof of acceptance: Allah, the Exalted says: {Remember when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession”} [surah Al- Anfal (9)]
Narrated Umar Ibn Al-Khatab (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the battle of Badr, the Messenger of Allah looked at the disbelievers. Finding them a thousand warriors while his Companions are only three hundred nineteen men; he turned his face to the Qibla [the direction in which all Muslim turn their races in Salat (prayers)}, and raised his hands entreating his Lard: “O Allah! I entreat You to fulfill me Your Promise! O Allah! Grant me Your Promise! O Allah! If Your Will is to let this group of Muslims be perished, none should worship You on earth after today.” The Prophet kept entreating so earnestly his Lord that his cloak fell to the ground. Abu Bakr there hastened to him and put it on the Prophet’s shoulders and kept adjacent to the Prophet saying: Allah’s Prophet! An enough entreatment to Allah in yours; for, verily, Allah will grant you His Promise. Then, Allah, Glorified and the Exalted revealed; {(Remember) when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying)! T will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession) Hence, Allah helped him with the angels.” [reported by Muslim]Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated “On the day of the battle of Badr; while one of the Muslims was chasing earnestly one of the disbelievers, he (the Muslim) heard a lash from above the disbeliever and the voice of the cavalier: was; ‘Come Haizoom!” Then, the Muslim looked at the disbeliever ahead, who to the ground fell dispatched, nose-banded, cleaved the same as the slash his face was!” The Ansari (One of the Companions of the Prophet from the inhabitants of Al-Madinah who embraced Islam and supported it) narrated that Allah’s Messenger said: “Truthful you are. That was of the succour of the third sky.” The Muslims killed seventy and took seventy as captives that day. [reported by Muslim]
