THE 3RD SUPPLICATIONS
ALLAH’S MESSENGER INVOKES HIS LORD IN THREE; AND HE, IN TWO, IS ACCEPTED
The supplication: It is his beseech to Allah neither to let the Mastery of an enemy not from amongst them (Muslims) be over his community nor to let them (Muslims) be perished drowning.: by Muhammad
Proof Of acceptance: Moa’z Ibn Jåbal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that: “One day Allah’s Messenger performed such a long prayer. When he finished praying, we said or (they said),’ “O Messenger of Allah! Today you prolonged the prayer! He said: “I performed a prayer of appeal (wish) and fear, I invoked Allah (The Exalted and Possessor of Majesty) in three for my community and He granted His acceptance in two, but denied me the third, I beseeched him not to let the Mastery of an enemy not from amongst them be over them (Muslim), and I am granted the acceptance; and not to let Muslims be perished drowning, granted the acceptance, too. And I beseech Him not to let conflicts and disputes be spread among them, but it is denied. [reported by Ibn-Majah]
I performed a prayer of wish means a prayer that includes a wished response supplication, fearing its non-acceptance. Not to let the Mastery of an enemy not from amongst them be over them (Muslim), i.e., not to be perished and eradicated; and drowning means to be floods-drown, their conflicts and disputes mean fighting One another. (Not-accepted) not to be granted the absolute response despite fulfilling of the conditions for supplication.
