THE 28th SUPPLICATION
SENDING PRAYERS ON ALLAH’S MESSENGER
In several authentic narrations, prayers upon Allah’s had been stated. We quote from What is recorded in As-Sahihin:”O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and the followers of’ Muhammad, just as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and upon the followers of Ibrahim. Verily, You are full of Praise and Majesty.
i). O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim, Verily, You are full of Praise and Majesty” [agreed upon]
ii). “O Allah! Send prayers upon Muhammad, Your slave and Messenger, just as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim. O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim,” [Bukhari]
iii). “O Allah! Send prayers upon Muhammad and his wives and his offspring, just as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrahim, and send Your blessings just as you sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim, Verily, you are full of Praise and Majesty.” [Bukhari]
iv). “O Allah! Send prayers upon Muhammad and upon his wives and his offspring, just You sent prayers upon the family of’ Ibrahim, and send Your blessings upon Muhammad and upon his wives and his offspring, just as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, you are full of Praise and Majesty?” [Muslim]
1. Allah! Send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, just as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrahim and send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of just as You sent blessings upon Che family of Ibrahim in Al-Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). Verily, you are full of Praise and Majesty.” [Muslim]
Proof of acceptance: Allah, the Exalted says in the Holy Quran: {Allah sends His Salat (Grace, Blessings, Mercy) on the Prophet (Muhammad and also his angels (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad and (you should) greet him with the Islamic way of greeting (Peace be upon you).] [Al-Ahzab: 56]
Therewith this verse, Allah has not only honored His Messenger both in his life and after his death, but also proves [he rank he had been ascended thereto and how wicked were those who once thought badly about the Prophet’s wives and the like thereof that as wéll, The praying of Allah is His Mercy and the Pleasure of Himself, The praying of the angels is their supplication and asking for forgiveness, The praying of’ the Messenger’s followers is their invocation and his being extolled by them. Amongst Allah’s Prophets, Allah has distinguished His Prophet With the honour of being prayed upon by Allah’s slaves.
Sending prayers upon Prophet Muhammad is no doubt an obligation even once in the life of the Muslim, just as the Prophet’s (acts of worship and statements of the Prophet have be by the Muslims) are to be performed. Such Sunan are not to be abandoned but by those from whom there comes forth no goodness.
In the Sahih of Muslim; narrated Abu-Hurrairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah’s Messenger said: “Whoever sends prayers upon me once, there with it Allah sends Ins prayer ten times upon him (the one who sends prayers on the Prophet. [Muslim]
