THE 26th SUPPLICATION
ALLAH’S MESSENGER INVOKES EVIL UPON THE DISBELIEVERS
The Supplication: “O Allah! Inflict with Your Curse Abi Jahl bin Hisham and Utba bin Rabiha and Shuebah bin Rabiha and Al-Waleed Ibn Uqba and Umayah bin Khalafand Uqba bin Abi-Mait.” [Muslim]
Proof of acceptance: Narrated Ibn Masud (may Allåh be pleased with him): Allåh’s Messenger was praying in the Holy Mosque, Abu Jahl urged his companions who were sitting with him by the Holy Mosque saying: “Who of you will take the bowels of Bani (non—mentioned family) slaughtered animal (an animal slaughtered the day before) and put it on Muhammad’s shoulders when he falls in prostration?” Their most wicked darted and got the bowels of the slaughtered animal and put it on the Prophet’s shoulders. Abi Jahal and his companions roared with laughter. Ibn Masud proceeds: “I wished I could have prevented that; yet, I had none to defend me,” The Prophet kept in prostration, He didn’t lift up his head until his daughter Fatemah when told; she hastened to the Prophet and threw the bowels away. She faced them and insulted them. When the Prophet concluded his prayer, he spoke up invoking Allah’s Curse to befall them. He invoked three times as he used to do. He invoked three times saying: “O Allah! Inflict Quraish (one of the greatest tribes in Arabia in the Pre-Islamic period of Ignorance. The Prophet Muhammad belonged to this tribe, which had great powers spiritually and financially both before and after Islam came) With your Curse. Wien Abi Jahl and his companions heard the Prophet’s invocation; terrified they become that to their palates, their tongues stuck.
Then the Prophet invoked: “O Allah! Inflict with Your Curse Abi Jahl bin Hisham and Utba bin Rabiha and Shuebah bin Rabiha and Al-Waleed bin Uqba and Umayah bin Khalaf and Uqba bin Abi-Mai’t-” The narrator forgot the name of their seventh. Ibn Masud proceeds; “‘By He who sent Muhammad I have seen those whom the Prophet had named in Al-Qutiab (A well-known well nearby the place where the battle of Badr had taken place), wherein they (Abi Jahl and his companions) had been thrown after being killed.
