THE 23rd SUPPLICATION

THE PROPHET’S INVOCATION: “O ALLAH! LET ME BE WITH THE HIGHEST COMPANION.”

The supplication: “O Allah! Let me be with the Highest Companion.”

Proof of acceptance: It is narrated on the authority of Said bin Al-Mosaeb and Orwah bin Az-Zobear and others that Ai’shah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Prophet used to say when he was in good health: “No Prophet dies until he is displayed his place in the Paradise, and to be granted the choice; (i.e. either to die or to proceed his life) She proceeded: “When he was seized with death, he had a fainting fit, Then he regained his consciousness and gazed at the ceiling saying: “O Allah! Let me be with the Highest Companions.” Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said; “So, the Prophet didn’t choose us, (i.e chose the highest Companions), and that this is what he used to tell us.” She said that the last that he said before his soul to the Creator ascended was: “O Allah! Let me be with the Highest companion.” [reported by Al-Bukhari]
