THE 21st SUPPLICATION

HIS SUPPLICATION FOR A SICK COMPANION WHOSE NAME ISN’T MENTIONED IN THE INVOCATION

The Supplication: “O Allah! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of the Fire.”

Allah, the Exalted says: {And of them there are some who say: “Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that is which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire.} [Al- Baqarah: (201)]

Proof of acceptance: This verse and this supplication are amongst the most comprehensive and eloquent of invocations with which Muslims may beseech Allah when seeking the goodness of the life of this world and of that. of the Hereafter, It is said to Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): “Invoke Allah for us,” Anas invoked: “O Allah! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter. and gave us from the torment of the Fire.” They said: “Invoke more for use” He said: “What do you need more? I invoke Allah for the goodness of both the life of this world and of that of the Hereafter.”‘

Once Qatada asked Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): “Which is the most invoked supplication of the Prophet Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: “O Allah! Give us good in the life of this world and good in that Of the Hereafter, and save us from the torment Of the Fire.” said: “This is indeed the invocation of Anas when he wanted to invoke: or that he used to make his beseech include this very supplication.” [reported by Muslim]

Narrated Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah’s Messenger once visited a sick Muslim, who was so lean as if he were a poult. Allah’s Messenger asked him if he has been invoking Allah for something. He replied: “Yes.” I used to invoke “O Allah! Let it be the life of this world that you may punish me with in the Hereafter.” Allah’s Messenger then said: “Glory to Allah! Surely, you won’t bear that. Will you invoke: “O Allah! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter , and save us from the torment of the fire.” Anas said, “Allah’s Messenger invoked Allah for the recovery of this sick Muslim, and Allah bestowed him recovery.” [reported by Muslim]
