THE 16th SUPPLICATION
ALLAH’S MESSENGER’S SUPPLICATION FOR ABI-TALHA AND UMM SALEEM (MAY ALLAH BE PLEASED WITH THEM)
The supplication: “O Allah! Bless both of them.” [narrated by Al-Bukhari]
“May Allah bless for you your last night.” [narrated by Muslim]
Proof Of acceptance: Narrated Anas: “Once, Abi-Talha (May Allah be pleased with him) had a gravely-afflicted boy. While Abi Talha was out, his son breathed his last, When he returned, he asked his wife (Umm Saleem): “How is my son?” She said: “He is more abated than ever,” He had his dinner, and met his satisfaction with her. When they finished, she said: “Bury the boy!” Next morning, Abu Talha told Allah’s Messenger about what Umm Saleem did. The Prophet said: “Did you sleep with her last night?” Abi-Talha answered: “Yes.” Then, the Prophet invoked for them saying: “O Allah! Bless both of them,” Umm Saleem gave birth to a baby boy Abu-Talha asked Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) to carry the boy to the Prophet and sent some dried dates with him. The Prophet said: “Did his father send something with him?” Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) answered: “Yes, some dried dates.” The Prophet had the dried dates and masticated them. Then he chafed the boy’s mouth with the chewed dates and named the boy Abdullah.
Recorded Al-Bukhari that Ibn Oyianah said that a man from Al-Ansar (The Companions of the Prophet from the inhabitants or Al-Madinah) said: “Of Abdullah’s sons; I saw nine; all of them recited the Holy Qur’an.”
