THE 14th SUPPLICATION
THE SUPPLICATION OF ALLAH’S MESSENGER FOR ABDULLAH IBN AL-ABBAS (MAY ALLAH BE PLEASED WITH THEM)
The supplication: There transmitted to us some authentic supplications which are almost of the Same meaning; “O Allah! Make him comprehend religion.” “O Allah! Cast Wisdom (i.e. the knowledge of the Qur’an and the Sunna (legal ways) of the Prophet) into his heart. O Allah! Cast wisdom and the interpretation of the Book (Qur’an) into his heart.”
Proof of acceptance: There’re some proofs known by all those who read any book of interpretation wherein the one surely finds a trace in every read-page of the disciple of the community of Islam; Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), Sa’d bin Jubir reported on the authority of Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that Umar used to lei. Men in With the aged men of Badr (those who accompanied the Prophet when fighting the disbelievers in the battle of Badr). Yet, some of them asked: “Why do you allow only this lad with us while we have lads of the same age?” Umar answered; “He is of those whom you knew (you don’t know how clever he is)” Bin Abbas added: “One day, Umai’ invited them allowed me in; only, as I think, to show them of my cleverness (my comprehension of religion)” Umar asked them: “What do you say about {when there comes the help Of Allah (to you, O Muhammad} until he finished the chapter, The interpretation of some Of them was that Allah commanded us to glorify Him, the Exalted be He, and to repent to Him if Allah’s help there came to us; i.e, we conqured and overcame our enemies.
While some of them said: “We don’t know”, the others kept silent, Ulnar asked me if it was the same that I Say about this chapter. T said: “NO” He asked: “What do you say said: “It is an indication from Allah to His Messenger that the Messenger is about to die,” [when there comes the help Of Allah (to you, O Muhammad against your enemies) and the conquest (of Makkah). The conquest of Makkah is the sign for your death (the Prophet’s death). {So glorify the praises of your Lord, and ask His Forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives}.
Umar said: “I know of it only what you may know.”
