9.12. HER MERITS
Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) lived almost four years with the Prophet (peace be upon him). Right from the very first moment she entered his house, she started to learn from him. She was never weary of seeking knowledge. The Qur’an and the Prophetic hadiths were the spring she ladled from. She reported sixty-five hadiths on the authority of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Among those who reported the hadiths of the Prophet on her authority were: her daughter, Habibah, her nephews, Abd Allah ibn ibn Abu Sufyan and Abu Sufyan ibn Sax id ibn al-Mughirah, ibn Hisham ibn al-Mughirah, Abu Salih as-Samman, Zaynab bint Abu Salamah, the Prophet’s step daughter, and her brothers, Mlüawiyah and Anbasa
Allah, the Almighty, also honored Umm Habibah when He mentioned her marriage to the Prophet in His Glorious Book saying,
It may be that Allah will grant love (and friendship) between you and those whom you (now) hold as enemies. For Allah has power (over all things); and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Mercified. (Al-Mumtahanah: 7)
