82. THE DELEGATION OF ASHJA‘
Al-Waqidi mentioned that they arrived in the year of Khandaq. There were 100 men in total. Their leader was Mas‘ood Ibn Rukhailah. They were dismounted by the mountain pass of Sala’ and Allah’s Messenger, (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him), went to meet them and ordered for them loads of dates. It is also said that they arrived after the Messenger of Allah, (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him), had finished dealing with Banu Quraizah. There were 700 men. He concluded a peace treaty with them and they returned, and afterward they accepted Islam.
